The Monteggia fracture with posterior dislocation of the radial head.

چکیده

There are two varieties of the fracture-dislocation originally described by Monteggia (1814), according to whether the head of the radius is dislocated anteriorly or posteriorly. The anterior variety, which is the more common, has received a prominent place in all text-books on fractures, chiefly on account of the frequency with which the dislocation is overlooked (Speed and Boyd 1940, \\‘atson-Jones 1943). The posterior variety, however, has received much less attention and there are few references to it in the literature. Most authorities put the incidence of the posterior variety at 10 to 15 per cent but in a series of ten Monteggia fractures treated during the last year at the Bristol Royal Infirmary no fewer than seven had posterior dislocations of the radial head.

COMBINED MONTEGGIA LESION AND ELBOW DISLOCATION

This case is a 19-year-old soldier who suffered a combined elbow dislocation and posterior Monteggia fracture and dislocation (type II). The ulna fracture was managed by ORIF. The elbow dislocation was managed by closed reduction and immobilization in 900 flexion. The posteriorly dislocated radial head was kept reduced by a transarticular pin. After 6 months elbow and forearm motion was restric...

Tardy posterior interosseous nerve palsy resulting from residual dislocation of the radial head in a Monteggia fracture: a case report

INTRODUCTION We report an extremely rare case of tardy posterior interosseous nerve palsy that developed 40 years after unreduced anterior dislocation of the radial head in a Monteggia fracture. CASE PRESENTATION A 46-year-old Asian woman was diagnosed with tardy posterior interosseous nerve palsy resulting from residual dislocation of the radial head in a Monteggia fracture. The patient reme...

Persistent posterior interosseous nerve palsy associated with a chronic type I Monteggia fracture-dislocation in a child: a case report and review of the literature.

We present a rare case of persistent complete posterior interosseous nerve palsy associated with a chronic type I Monteggia elbow fracture-dislocation consisting of anterior dislocation of the radial head and malunion of the ulna in an 8-year-old child requiring surgical treatment. Posterior interosseous nerve neuropraxia following acute Monteggia injury patterns about the elbow has been descri...

Type III Monteggia fracture with posterior interosseous nerve injury in a child

RATIONALE Elbow injury in children by improper treatment or a delay of more than 3 weeks could lead to old unreduced Monteggia fracture, which are difficult to manage. Conservative or normal surgical methods usually fail. PATIENT CONCERNS Herein, we present a 6-year-old boy with sustaining injury approximately 1 month to his left elbow. Activity in his elbow was restricted, and his ability to...

Case Report: A Rare Variety of Type 4 Monteggia Fracture Dislocation in A 28 Years Old Man

A Monteggia fracture is a fracture of the proximal ulna coupled with a radial head dislocation. Numerous classification systems have been developed to characterize these fractures. Bado classification is most commonly used. Bado type 1 Monteggia fractures are most common while type 3 & 4 are rare entities. In our case, after confirming the diagnosis as type 4 Bado Monteggia fracture dislocation...
